In the www. there are many misidentifications of rotifers of the genus Lecane , which is often confused with rotifers of the genus Lepadella. One safe trait that discriminates Lecane and Lepadella is the eyespot: All species of Lepadella have two lateral eyespots, whereas Lecane has a single cerebral eyespot.
